Many older homes were built when insulation was believed to cost more than energy. How that’s changed! Here are a few things you can do to improve your existing home’s comfort and efficiency.
Depending on the roof style, in the attic you can use a “blown-in”insulation like fiberglass loosefill, cellulose; fiberglass batts or somecombination of any of these. And although fiberglass batt is one of the few types of insulation a do-it-yourselfer can easily install, you’ll appreciate the speed and efficiency of the M&D batt installers and the fact that you won’t be coughing for weeks afterward!
A good choice for new wall construction would be the GreenFiber’s Cellulose Cocoon Insulation or the traditional Cellulose insulation, which is made from 85% recycled paper fiber and gets in the hard to reach areas to offer an overall excellent performance. It has a higher R-value per inch than other insulation types and offers better sound control. Learn more about the different types of insulation.
